Student-Run Free Clinic at NEOMED Wins Statewide Award

Congratulations to the Student-Run Free Clinic at NEOMED, which has been named the 2020 Free Clinic of the Year by the Charitable Healthcare Network. More than 400 students – including students from the College of Pharmacy as well as the College of Medicine – are currently on the roster to volunteer at the clinic, which provides care for underserved and underinsured patients.

This is the second time that the Student-Run Free Clinic, which opened in September 2016 as the SOAR Free Clinic, has won the statewide award. It also won in 2017.

The Clinic ranked at the gold level for the Quality Care Standards of the Charitable Health Network.

December is Free Clinic Appreciation Month in Ohio. In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Health, the Charitable Healthcare Network will hold a virtual celebration and awards ceremony on Dec. 9. The Charitable Healthcare Network is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports clinics providing free clinical services as well as other healthcare safety net services in Ohio.

The Student-Run Free Clinic is open every Saturday, using a hybrid model of service.
