Virtuous Healer Honor Society Inductee: Cynthia Pathmathasan

During a virtual ceremony held August 25, NEOMED welcomed six new members to its Virtuous Healer Honor Society (VHHS). The organization recognizes College of Medicine students, residents and faculty who exemplify the attributes of the virtuous healer, including:

  • Altruism
  • Compassion
  • Curiosity
  • Generosity
  • Humility
  • Justice
  • Moral Imagination

Among the inductees is fourth-year College of Medicine student Cynthia Pathmathasan. Following the ceremony, Cynthia took a moment to discuss what being inducted to the VHHS means to her:

"My medical school journey has had its fair share of peaks and troughs. Although I am entirely grateful for the peaks, it was the troughs that opened my eyes to the human in the white coat and the mortality of my own body and mind. For this reason, it was truly an honor to be inducted into NEOMED’s Virtuous Healer Honor Society alongside my peers who too, remain highly motivated by their own triumphs and defeats to cultivate a safe and nurturing environment for the NEOMED community. I am confident that working alongside this wonderful group of individuals will allow me to not only enhance my approach to community development and advocacy but ultimately improve the quality of healthcare that I will soon present to my community as a physician!"
