A space oddity: Octopuses

What is a space oddity? A David Bowie song, yes, but it is also one of the weird and wonderful things you can find in offices, labs and other spaces of NEOMED.

What is it?

While the octopus is generally a solitary creature, when made of ceramic, they have been known to group together, as shown here.

Where is it?

In the office of Jessica Ferrell, Ph.D., assistant professor of Integrative Medical Sciences.

Why is it there?

The octopus collection is a combination of gifts and personal purchases.

“I just have always found them interesting. They have no central nervous system but they're super intelligent,” Dr. Ferrell said.
