GET TO KNOW GABBY BILTZ, BIO-MED STUDENT & OPRM INTERN

Someday, Gabrielle (Gabby) Biltz may get her dream job: professional food taster or movie critic, or maybe a combination of the two. For now, the Bio-Med Science Academy senior is excited to be starting as an intern for NEOMED’s Office of Public Relations and Marketing, where she’ll work for the 2016-2017 school year.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you lived in Northeast Ohio?

A: I have lived my whole life in Garrettsville, Ohio. It is a small town about a half-hour from the NEOMED campus. I love Garrettsville because it’s a town where everyone knows everyone, and when you’re walking downtown, there’s always a familiar face. Garrettsville was once home to Clarence Crane, the man who invented Life Saver candy, making it the sweetest little town I know.

Q: How else do you like to spend your free time?

A: I enjoy anything that has to do with music, whether it be just listening to music or playing the piano. My favorite thing to do with music is dance, particularly hip-hop. I also enjoy reading, going for walks, and spending time with my friends during after-school extracurricular activities, like HPAC and National Honor Society. The photo shows me in one of my favorite vacation spots: Buckhorn Lake in Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada.

Q: What’s the best thing about being a Bio-Med student?

A: I love being challenged to think outside of the box, and learning in a more problem- based way.

Q: What is your favorite book?

A: I would have to say The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith because it is a very cute story, and I like the characters that the author uses. I also enjoy anything written by John Green.

Q: What is the last show you binge-watched?

A: The last show I watched was Friends. I found it to be hilarious, and if I had to pick a favorite character it would be Chandler Bing.

Q: If you could transform into any animal, which one would you choose?

A: I would definitely want to transform into a flamingo. Besides the fact that they’re my favorite color, they just seem like really fun animals. They also represent summer, and they remind me of warm weather and the beach.

Q: What about that dream job?

A: It would be pretty neat to travel around the world and try a whole bunch of different foods, or just sit around all day and watch movies. If there was some way I could combine the two, all while getting paid, it would be the definition of a dream.
