Aesculapius Charity Ball surpasses goal
The 2024 Annual Aesculapius Charity Ball was a success!
Last year, after raising over $10,000, a new goal was made for this year - $12,500. Thanks to the hard work of the student planning committee to procure generous donations, and thanks to wonderful bidders, the goal was surpassed and just over $13,000 was raised for student scholarships.
Traditionally, money raised has been split between a scholarship for the College of Medicine and a scholarship for the College of Pharmacy. This year, the funds will be split evenly among the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Graduate Studies.

This year 200 people attended the ball, including some notable staff and faculty: President John Langell and his wife, Dr. Sara Whittingham, Provost Forrest Faison, Dean Marc Basson, Dr. Cynthia Ledford, Dr. James Bailey, Dr. Randon Welton, Dr. Amy Lee, Lynda McPhail and Margy Sanders. The wonderful folks from the Learning Center and the Office of Student Services were also in attendance, as was Julia Colecchi from Marketing and Communications.
The Step and Sway Ballroom Dancing Group gave a wonderful performance of the East Coast Swing, led by Lynda McPhail and Dr. Amy Lee. Shortly after their performance, they taught a line dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers.” The dance floor was full of people.
Another highlight was the photo backdrop and photobooth by Tay’s Flower Walls. Special thank you to Tara Winebold who helped set that up for us. It was a huge hit!
