Alpha Omega Alpha Zeta Chapter welcomes new members
Congratulations to the newest Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Zeta Chapter inductees!
During a March 3 ceremony, 35 College of Medicine students and 11 faculty, residents and alumni were welcomed into the NEOMED AOA Chapter. Paul Lecat, M.D., professor of family and community medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics, presented the keynote address.
Election to the AOA Honor Medical Society signifies a lasting commitment to scholarship, leadership, professionalism and service. Membership in the society confers recognition of someone’s dedication to the profession and art of healing.
For medical students, those with scholastic qualifications that place them in the upper 25% of the class are eligible for AOA nomination.

Each AOA chapter may elect residents/fellows, faculty and alumni who have never previously been elected to AOA. Each school may elect up to 25 residents or fellows, up to 10 faculty, and three to five alumni, who, based on merit, demonstrate the characteristics of excellent physicians in alignment with AOA’s mission and values.
