Already High COVID-19 Vaccination Rate at NEOMED Climbs Another Notch

Congratulations to NEOMED students for pushing their already high COVID-19 vaccination rate to 99 percent as of Thursday, Sept. 16.

Here’s the breakdown:

In the 100% club are M3s, M4s and Modern Anatomical Sciences degree program students.

On their heels: P3s at 99%, closely followed by M1s, M2s and P4s at 98%.

Next are P2s at 97%, followed by P1s at 96%.

The employee rate this week remained at 93%. (Of 466 employees, 31 are undisclosed or unvaccinated.)

The campus community’s strong showing is not just impressive but also important in the context of an increased number of cases locally and statewide. As of Sept. 13, the Portage County Combined General Health District reported 78 cases per day, compared with 9 cases per day reported on Sept. 13, 2020.

And in the state of Ohio, WKYC-TV reported Sept. 15, On July 17, COVID patients made up just one in every 60 patients. Fast forward to today and they now make up one in every six. It’s a drastic change that all the hospitals say can be curtailed, while keeping them open and seeing people, if folks get the vaccine and wear a mask.”
