Alumna Theresa Michele, M.D. (’91), is next VITALS speaker
Class of 1991 alumna Theresa Michele, M.D., director of the Office of Nonprescription Drugs at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, joins us for the next VITALS | Visionary Health Leadership in Action at noon Thursday, Jan. 9, via Zoom.
VITALS is NEOMED’s health leadership series in collaboration with University Hospitals.
Each month, we give health leaders 17 minutes (the average length of a physician visit) to address one of the VITALS topics: Value-based, Innovation, Technology, Advocacy, Leadership or Service. The presentation is followed by a Q&A with WKYC senior health correspondent Monica Robins.
About Theresa Michele, M.D.
Dr. Michele is currently the director of the Office of Nonprescription Drugs (ONPD) in the Office of New Drugs, Center of Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Among other drugs, the ONPD is responsible for regulating health care and consumer antiseptics. Prior to joining FDA in the Division of Pulmonary and Allergy Drug Products, she spent 10 years in industry, with clinical research experience across a variety of therapeutic areas in both commercial and development stage companies.
A 1991 graduate of NEOMED, Dr. Michele is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine, completing her training at Johns Hopkins University, where she currently serves on the faculty.
