Alumni honored by Mercy Health Foundation

Two graduates of the NEOMED College of Medicine were honored by Mercy Health Foundation-Mahoning Valley at its annual Health Care Visionary Awards on Nov. 16.

Amy Acton, M.D. (’90), and James Kravec, M.D. (02), were recognized for their contributions in the public health area.

Dr. Acton, former director of the Ohio Department of Health who played a leading role in Ohio’s COVID-19 response, received the Mahoning Valley Leadership in Health Award.

Dr. Kravec, chief clinical officer of Mercy Health-Lorain and Youngstown and the medical director of the Mahoning County Public Health Department, received the Heart of the Mission Award.

Tribute videos for the awardees included remarks from NEOMED President John Langell, M.D., M.P.H, and Amy Lee, M.D., M.P.H., professor of Family and Community Medicine and program director of the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health.
