Alumnus recognized as Ohio's EMS Medical Director of the Year

Congratulations to alumnus Jay Carter, M.D. ('86), medical director with Hudson EMS, who was recently named EMS Medical Director of the Year in both the state and region by the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

Dr. Carter was recognized at the 2024 Ohio EMS Star of Life awards ceremony in Columbus in May. The awards are presented by the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians, the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire and Transportation Services, and the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services.

According to the Ohio EMS website, the EMS Star of Life Awards recognize outstanding achievements and honor those in Ohio’s EMS system whose accomplishments rise above the day-to-day excellence of the system. The award honored Dr.  Carter not only for his commitment to excellence in EMS, but also for his active role within the community.

Early in his career, Dr. Carter joined Hudson EMS as a paramedic. He has served as medical director for 20 years. He is also medical director at University Hospitals Lake Health System.

Congratulations, Dr. Carter!
