AMEF Scholarship - external scholarship for M3 & M4 students

The Academy of Medicine Education Foundation (AMEF) is now accepting student scholarship applications, to be awarded in the current 2021-2022 academic year.

The AMEF was formed by the physician leadership of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio (AMCNO) more than 50 years ago. Since its inception, AMEF has granted more than $1.7 million in scholarships to qualified students.

Medicine students who are currently in their third or fourth year of medical school for 2021-2022, and who meet the following criteria, will be considered by the AMEF Board of Trustees as possible scholarship recipients. Completed applications and a copy of a current transcript must be received by AMEF no later than Jan. 31, 2022.

AMEF scholarship eligibility criteria

Items from both #1 and #2 must be met to apply:

  1. AMEF awards scholarships each year to third- and fourth-year medicine students (MD/DO) who are residents of Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Portage or Summit counties, and who demonstrate an interest in organized medicine, leadership skills, community involvement and academic achievement.
  2. AMEF scholarships will be awarded to third- and fourth-year medicine students attending the following colleges: Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of CWRU, Northeast Ohio Medical University and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Announcement of the scholarships awarded will be made in the spring of 2022. Students will then receive their scholarship funds ($5,000) 4 – 6 weeks following the formal announcement.

Download the application. Please note: If students are already AMCNO medical student members, their username will auto populate after they click on the “Apply Now!” button; they’ll just need to reset their password if they haven’t already logged into the website. Non-member students will first need to create a profile within the system to apply (under the New Users section).

If you have questions, please contact Valerie Yanoska at vyanoska@amcno.org or 216-520-1000, ext. 102.
