Apply for NEOMED’s Master of Arts in Medical Ethics and Humanities

Students and professionals are invited to enroll in the Master of Arts in Medical Ethics and Humanities program—an interdisciplinary graduate program that prepares future healthcare leaders to thoughtfully navigate ethical and humanistic challenges in medicine.

Directed by Julie Aultman, Ph.D., the program features courses taught by faculty: Rachel Bracken, Ph.D., Brian Harrell, M.A., Kimberly Garchar, Ph.D., Daniel Yozwiak, J.D., and others. Through coursework in clinical ethics, healthcare law, the medical humanities, and more, students gain a deep understanding of the ethical, cultural and social dimensions of healthcare practice and research.

Students in NEOMED’s College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy, College of Graduate Studies, and Bitonte College of Dentistry may pursue this degree as dual-enrolled students, with six credits from their primary program counting toward the M.A. degree. This flexible structure allows students to enhance their professional education without extending their time in school.

However, dual enrollment is not required. The program welcomes applicants from across the country, including hospital systems, practicing nurses and individuals with undergraduate degrees in ethics or related fields. The program lasts from 1-4 years, ending with a thesis project.

Courses are offered in a hybrid format to support a variety of schedules and professional commitments. Whether you are pursuing clinical training or already practicing in the field, this program offers a space to reflect, question, and lead with integrity.

Reach out to Brian Harrell, Dr. Julie Aultman, Dr. Rachel Bracken, or Max Gillilan (M4) to help start the applications process.
