Bitonte College of Dentistry prepares for CODA site visit

Dear NEOMED community,

The Bitonte College of Dentistry is scheduled for an initial accreditation visit by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) on Thursday and Friday, April 4-5.

The review team will be onsite to evaluate the University’s plans to offer a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree program through the Bitonte College of Dentistry.

This is the next step in the accreditation process for the Bitonte College of Dentistry, which had a successful site visit from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) in December 2023.

Faculty and staff from throughout the University will participate in the two-day CODA site visit. Currently, no open forums for other faculty, staff and students are planned. Changes to the site visit agenda will be shared in The Pulse newsletter and other communications.

Information gathered from the initial CODA accreditation application and site evaluation will be developed into a report, which will be reviewed by CODA to determine the program’s readiness for initial accreditation status. This report will be considered at CODA’s Summer 2024 meeting.

If accreditation is granted by CODA, the College may begin recruiting students.

The Bitonte College of Dentistry expects to welcome its first class in Fall 2025.

Please give our CODA guests a warm NEOMED welcome.

Sincerely,

C. Forrest Faison III, M.D., Sc.D. (hon), FAAP, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs
