Browns pregame tailgate event helps kick off a new season of NFL football

The NEOMED community was ready to welcome a new season of Cleveland Browns football, celebrating with a Browns Pregame Tailgate event on Wed., Sept. 9, 2026.

Hundreds of students, faculty and staff celebrated inside the Jay A. Gershen Atrium for a tailgate-themed lunch. Attendees received a free co-branded NEOMED and Cleveland Browns rally towel and t-shirt. They also participated in a score prediction contest for the Browns week one game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and a silent auction of Browns apparel and memorabilia. A helmet signed by quarterback Shedeur Sanders was generously provided by the Browns for the silent auction.

A highlight of the event was an appearance by Browns mascot Chomps, who fired up the crowd as he ran around giving high fives, as well as posing for pictures for many students looking to capture the memory. NEOMED mascot Nate the Walking Whale also joined the fun.

“Our partnership with NEOMED has allowed the Cleveland Browns to extend our impact well beyond the walls of Huntington Bank Field and create meaningful experiences for fans and families throughout our community,” said Erica Muhleman, senior vice president of corporate partnerships. “From serving as the presenting partner of Summer Blitz in 2025, supporting Reading for Tomorrow in 2024, to our upcoming Presenting Partnership of Reading Month in March and a Jr. Doctor event in October, NEOMED continues to be a tremendous partner in helping us connect with the next generation and make a lasting difference in Northeast Ohio. We are proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to continuing to impact Browns fans this season.”

NEOMED’s partnership with the Browns has provided opportunities to expand healthcare education for students. The Browns have opened their doors for several training opportunities, as well as providing students interested in orthopaedics access to head team physician James Voos, M.D. The partnership has also resulted in philanthropic opportunities such as the Folds of Honor scholarship. Second-year dental student Halley Fritz was named recipient of the scholarship in 2025 and was honored on the field of a Cleveland Browns game in November.
