C. William Keck, M.D., receives APHA award for excellence in public health
William Keck, M.D., M.P.H., FACPM, professor emeritus in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, has been awarded the prominent 2024 American Public Health Association (APHA) Executive Director Citation.
This recognition honors Dr. Keck for his exceptional contributions to public health and his dedication to bridging the gap between academia and practice. For over two decades, he served as the chair of the APHA Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice, playing a pivotal role in educating and training the next generation of public health professionals.
Dr. Keck’s career has been marked by a deep commitment to public health. His academic teachings and practical experience have made him an invaluable asset to the Ohio public health workforce. Over 40 years ago, he was instrumental in establishing a partnership between NEOMED and the Akron Health Department. This collaboration has since expanded to include several other health departments in Ohio, solidifying NEOMED’s reputation as a leader in public health education and research.
