Celebrate Lunar New Year with the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association

Join NEOMED's Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) in welcoming the Lunar New Year with a celebration on Friday, Jan. 24, from 5 - 8 p.m. in Cook Alumni Hall. This event will feature multiple performances, interactive cultural stations, a fashion show showcasing traditional attire from various Asian cultures, trivia games and a donation raffle supporting Asian Services in Action (ASIA).

What is Lunar New Year?

Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is celebrated across many Asian cultures and marks the beginning of a new year based on the lunar calendar, which has been used for centuries to track time by the moon's cycles. Traditions such as family reunions, honoring ancestors, and giving red envelopes symbolize a wish for good fortune in the year ahead.

The year 2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake, which represents wisdom, creativity and transformation in the Chinese zodiac. The snake encourages us to pursue growth and navigate new challenges with insight and grace.

Don't miss this opportunity to experience the rich traditions of the Lunar New Year. Tickets for the event are on sale through the CampusGroups event page. Each ticket includes a delicious meal, boba tea and a party favor! The celebration is open to students, faculty, staff and community members.
