Charity Ball a Success!
The 2023 Aesculapius Charity Ball was the cat’s meow!
More than 270 students, faculty, staff and friends put on their glad rags and dancing shoes for the Gatsby-themed event held Saturday, Feb. 11, in the NEW Center Ballroom.
The sold-out event raised a record-breaking $10,881 for the Sarah Cho Memorial Scholarship and the Future Pharmacists Fund – more than $3,000 over the fundraising goal!
“We really tried to make this year’s charity ball more of an immersive experience,” says Victoria (Tori) Carpenter, coordinator in Students Services. “We had a speakeasy door and attendees had to give the password ‘Brought My Glad Rags’ to get in. Brian Butler, our assistant director of Student Services, guarded the door for the first hour, playing the part of a speakeasy bouncer, who only let people in that set of doors if they gave him that phrase.”
Guests could also brush up on their 1920’s slang with centerpieces featuring phrases like the cat’s meow (something splendid or stylish), glad rags (fancy clothes), know your onions (knowledgeable), and many more.
