CJ CCOE director featured in national news story
Emily Ribnik, Ph.D., LPCC-S, CTMH, CGCS, director of the Criminal Justice Coordinating Center of Excellence (CJ CCOE), was interviewed recently by ABC News on the value of Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training for police officers to help them appropriately respond to mental health crises. CIT training is among the education and training available through the CJ CCOE, which is housed in the Department of Psychiatry in NEOMED’s College of Medicine.
“We want people who are going through a mental health crisis to be connected to care, to hopefully prevent another crisis in the future, and also make sure they’re not being unnecessarily entangled into the local justice system,” noted Ribnik in the interview.
