College of Medicine assistant dean re-elected to AAMC steering committee

Corrie Stofcho, M.D. (’06), assistant dean of student affairs in the College of Medicine, has been re-elected as member-at-large of the Central Group on Student Affairs (CGSA) Steering Committee for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

Dr. Stofcho looks forward to continuing to work with colleagues from other medical schools to provide perspective and insight on matters affecting students at NEOMED and throughout the region.

“The biggest thing that I have gained from my role with the Central Group on Student Affairs Steering Committee is a community of colleagues with whom I can collaborate, both when it comes to our students’ needs at NEOMED, but also student needs in the region and nation. It is a space to advocate for what our students need in this current climate of increasing residency competitiveness and a push to always be doing more,” Dr. Stofcho shared.

She reflected on being recognized by her peers with re-election to the position.

“I am humbled and flattered that my colleagues recognized the work I put in during my first two years as a member-at-large and have trusted me again to serve our community,” she said. “I am looking forward to leading our next community call on Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPEs), as well as taking on more of a role in the next national Group on Students Affairs meeting. My goal in the future is to take on increasing leadership roles, both within CGSA and then the national GSA committees.”

The AAMC Central region comprises Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Manitoba and Ontario.
