Crain’s recognizes Hannah Haynie as a rising star

NEOMED is proud to announce that Hannah Haynie, manager of the NEOMED Free Clinic, has been named one of the 20 in their 20s by Crain’s Cleveland Business. This recognition highlights her outstanding achievements and dedication to making a positive impact on our community.

Stacey Gardner-Buckshaw, Ph.D., Haynie’s supervisor and associate professor of Family and Community Medicine, praised her exceptional leadership skills and dedication to community service. “Since she’s taken over, we’ve seen a lot more student engagement,” Dr. Gardner-Buckshaw said in an interview with Crain’s. “We even have students who are writing grants and students who are going to community meetings to talk about the clinic and present on the clinic.”

Under Haynie’s guidance, the NEOMED Free Clinic has experienced a significant increase in patient visits and has secured funding through grant writing. Her ability to motivate and inspire student volunteers has been instrumental in the clinic’s success.

Haynie has conducted in-depth research to understand the needs of the community and has worked tirelessly to ensure the clinic’s sustainability.

“It’s a lot of time committed to trying to get the clinic to a more sustainable place and benefit the community as a whole, but it’s a labor of love,” she shared with Crain’s, noting the community need for the free clinic. “I’ve been very lucky to work in a capacity where I’m able to solve problems and make a difference.”

Congratulations, Hannah Haynie, on this well-deserved recognition!
