Crisis Intervention Training through AHEC Scholars Program

On Saturday, Oct. 29, the Crisis Intervention Training Session featured Inspector Bill Holland from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department and Sergeant Tom Knisley from the Summa Health Police Department. The presentation generated a great deal of audience interest.

This is the second time that the Akron Region Interprofessional Area Health Education Center (ARI-AHEC) has offered this training for scholars, community members and partners.

The training helps to create connections between law enforcement, mental health providers, hospital emergency services and individuals with mental illness and their families.

The eight-hour training focused on improving communication, identifying mental health resources for those in crisis and promotes community safety.
