Distinguished Law Professor to Present NEOvations B2B Workshop

NEOvations Bench to Bedside is opening its annual workshop series with a lecture delving into Intellectual Property (IP) Protection and IP law. Guest speaker Emily Michiko Morris, J.D., University of Akron, will discuss how to protect intellectual property in both national and international markets, patentability and patent protection, and will answer student questions regarding when to begin protecting ideas, presentation rights and available legal resources.

Morris joined the faculty at The University of Akron School of Law in 2021 as an associate professor and David L. Brennan Endowed Chair. She is also associate director of UA’s Center for Intellectual Property Law and Technology. She is an experienced educator and researcher that specializes in law and medicine, specifically patent law of biotechnologies, university research and pharmaceutical regulations.

She earned her A.B from Harvard University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. Her work has been published in books and leading judicial journals such as the Stanford Technology Law Review, the Connecticut Law Review and the Harvard Journal of Gender and Law.

The virtual lecture will take place at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 and is open to the public.
