Dr. Feng Dong named M1 Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Feng Dong, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor of biomedical sciences, who was named the College of Medicine's 2025-2026 M1 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Dong was honored during M2 orientation on Monday, July 27, in Watanakunakorn Auditorium.

Class of 2029 College of Medicine Student Curriculum Council representatives Will Noftz and Saanvi Ganesh recognized Dr. Dong for his excellence as a teacher and his dedication as a mentor.

Students submitted the following comments when nominating Dr. Dong:

“Dr. Dong has been so supportive and kind this year. His organization, attention to detail and desire to help create a positive environment conducive to student learning and I am so glad he taught us in both GRE and IDI. I have learned so much from him and truly appreciate his approach to teaching.”

“The best instructor oriented to student success. I think it would benefit all students if Dr. Dong's way of providing prep materials and in-class activities became the policy for the College of Medicine.”

“Dr. Dong is seriously the best. His handouts are awesome, and you can tell he genuinely cares about the success of his students. He literally kept me motivated after such an awful GRE class, and he reminded me as to why I went into medicine in the first place.”

“Dr. Dong is an exceptional teacher. His immense depth of knowledge, combined with his ability to explain complex concepts in a simple yet powerful way, truly helped me push through the infectious disease course. The comprehensive PDF he provided, which covered everything in a clear and organized manner, was incredibly helpful and made studying much more efficient. I am deeply grateful for his support and guidance—I cannot thank him enough. Thank you, Dr. Dong!”

“I believe Dr. Dong deserves this award because he was specifically a great teacher. He put so much effort into making practice questions before exams. He made detailed handouts for almost every single lecture to make the concepts easier for us to understand. He cared so much about our education and more so he turned that passion into action that actually benefited our education as students.”

“Dr. Dong made IDI a great course by providing handouts, extensive practice questions and stellar engaged learning sessions. He was also very open to assisting students in need of support.”

“Dr. Dong was one of a few professors this year who seemed genuinely interested in our success as students. He was receptive to and responsive to the feedback we had as students. Beyond his lectures, Dr. Dong directed one of the best-structured courses in our curriculum, and his efforts to improve it were evident throughout the course.”

Congratulations, Dr. Dong!
