Dr. Scott Wisneski retires
Scott Wisneski, Pharm.D., M.B.A., R.Ph., has retired from NEOMED after 18 years in the College of Pharmacy and the College of Graduate Studies. His last day at the University is June 30.
Dr. Wisneski joined NEOMED as director of experiential education in the College of Pharmacy. He taught across the Pharm.D. curriculum and ensured students had high-quality rotations. His teaching of dermatology, ocular disorders and principles of leadership was well received by students. He was named a hooder for the class of 2025. His teaching expanded to the the College of Medicine and the College of Graduate as well. He took a leadership role in 2016 overseeing the Master of Science in Health System Pharmacy Administration degree in the College of Graduate Studies and was named vice dean of graduate studies in 2023.
Before joining NEOMED, Dr. Wisneski was a pharmacy manager at Summa Health System-Akron City Hospital. He spent six years serving as a pharmacy leader in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps, in both Oklahoma and Georgia. He was a trailblazer early in his career, as one of the earliest ambulatory care pharmacists within Kaiser Permanente in Virginia. In that position, he provided direct patient care for chronic diseases and improved clinical outcomes. He also spent time in the pharmaceutical industry with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Sanofi-Aventis and Shire, working as a medical science liaison for infectious disease, respiratory, nephrology and psychiatry medications.
Dr. Wisneski has published a textbook chapter on professionalism for pharmacy students on rotations, opinion pieces on the history of pharmacy, and a textbook, titled The Effective Pharmacy Preceptor, based on his extensive knowledge of experiential education.
