External Scholarship: COM Class of 2024

The Cleveland Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has launched the application cycle for its Medical Student Award. The recipient will receive a $500 scholarship and a certificate. The scholarship will award the "best medical student in OB/GYN" with an interest in pursuing a career in OB/GYN. This scholarship opportunity is open only to NEOMED, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine students graduating in 2024 and with plans to apply for residency in OB/GYN or another field focusing on women's health.

More information

How is the award decided? The CLEsog executive committee will review all applications and choose the award recipient based on the greatest commitment to women’s health and anticipation of a successful future in obstetrics and gynecology. Application for the award requires a brief personal statement indicating why you should be considered, two letters of recommendation, one of which should be from your clerkship director or clerkship department chair, a copy of your score from step one of the boards, and a CV that lists your jobs, experiences, awards, honors, and research, particularly as they relate to women’s health.

When is the application due? Supporting materials must be received by Pat Wolf, administrator for the Cleveland Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, at CLEsog@gmail.com by September 30, 2023.

When is it awarded?  The recipient of the award will be notified in October 2023 so the honor can be noted on their residency applications. The award will be also formally announced at the CLEsog educational meeting on January 24 or March 20, 2024 at the Doubletree Hotel in Independence. All students who have applied will be invited to attend the meeting at no charge, and the recipient be called up to receive the award when it is announced.

Residencies are VERY COMPETITIVE!  Improve your odds by applying for the award! You will need to collect much of this information for residency applications anyway.  If you have any questions, please contact Pat Wolf at CLEsog@gmail.com or Dr. Suchetha Kshettry at kshetts@ccf.org
