Feng Dong named M1 Teacher of the Year

After their first year was complete, the rising second-year medicine students had the opportunity to vote for the M1 Teacher of the Year. The award is presented to a faculty member who is approachable, kind, dedicated, organized and passionate about making an impact on the education of all NEOMED students.

On Monday, July 24, students gathered in the Watanakunakorn Auditorium to begin their orientation and present the award. Although there were many nominations, Feng Dong, M.D., Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Integrative Medical Sciences, stood out. Student representatives Bryce Pember and Joseph Kessler presented the award on behalf of the Student Curriculum Council.

The students shared glowing recommendations of Dr. Dong, including:

  • “Dr. Dong led the most understandable and interesting lectures of all the classes I attended this year. He put a lot of effort into creating preparation material for us. It is so clear how much he loves teaching and interacting with us as future medical professionals. There is no better person for the award in my opinion.”
  • “I really appreciate his enthusiasm to help students be their best and succeed at NEOMED. Thank you, Dr. Dong, for being a great professor and course director.”
  • “He reaches out to students who need more help. He believes in every student and assists them in seeing their full potential to reach their career dreams of becoming a physician.”

Congratulations, Dr. Dong!
