First students head to The Christ Hospital Health Network
NEOMED celebrated another “first” for the University with a send-off event for 27 third-year medical students who will make up the inaugural class of The Christ Hospital Health Network (CHHN) partnership. The cohort began their orientation at the Mt. Auburn campus in Cincinnati on Monday, June 15.
President John T. Langell and Mark Basson, M.D., Ph.D., dean of the College of Medicine, were among those from the NEOMED community in attendance to wish the students well and congratulate them for being part of a pioneering class for the new partnership NEOMED and CHHN announced the partnership in November 2025 as a way to establish pathways for future physicians to train for medical careers in Ohio, learning from physicians in emergency medicine, OB/GYN, internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery. The collaboration will introduce increased clinical rotation opportunities throughout Southwest Ohio for College of Medicine students.
“I’m looking forward to hearing about all the great things you will be doing,” said Dr. Basson. “The people at The Christ Hospital Health Network are extremely excited to start working with you.”
Dr. Basson also introduced Deja Rice, who is beginning her role as academic partnership liaison. She will work closely with the students to make sure all aspects of the new partnership are running smoothly.
Congratulations to all 27 third-year medical students who have begun their rotations at Mt. Auburn!
