This weekend, we’ve curated a list of five exciting (and free) activities to help you make the most of your time in this charming part of the Buckeye State.
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
When there’s a crisp snap in the air, nothing beats a day at the local pumpkin patch farm. The bright orange gourds are quintessential to the fall experience, and nothing tops hopping on a hay ride to find the perfect plant. Check out this list of best pumpkin patches in Ohio

Take the Kent Public Art Walking Tour
From wall murals to bronze sculptures, a wide variety of public art has been installed in downtown Kent over the years, meant to be enjoyed by all. The tour begins at the Haymaker’s Farmer’s market mural on Franklin Ave. and winds around the downtown area with walking directions provided from stop to stop.

Watch the leaves change at Towner’s Woods
Towner’s Woods has been open to the public since 1975 and consists of 242 rolling acres of mixed forests, diverse wetlands and meadows. The park is next to Lake Pippen, a pristine glacial kettle hold lake with perfect views of the changing leaves. The park offers multiple foot trails and a paved bike trail for ADA accessibility.
A list of all Portage County parks can be found here.
Walk the Haunted Downtown Kent Tour
Hear about the history and haunting of many historic Kent buildings. The tour takes place on October 13 and 14 and costs $25.
Visit the Haymaker’s Farmer’s Market
The Haymaker’s Farmers’ Market is open year-round, every Saturday morning in Kent. The market provides a connection between producers of local food and community by creating a vibrant and sustainable gathering place promoting direct access to fresh food, education and art.
