Forward Focus: Recap of the University’s Strategic Planning Update
Lacey Madison, vice president for strategy and transformation, discussed the strategic plan refresh at the Oct. 28 University Update. In case you missed it, here is a summary of the update on the strategic plan refresh:
- July 2024: The University began identifying informed key stakeholders already involved in the strategic plan and started reviewing existing strategic initiatives. The focus was on assessing what has been completed, what needs to be integrated or streamlined, and identifying areas for new initiatives.
- August 2024: A survey was sent to the University community asking for feedback on the mission and vision. The results showed that 93% of students surveyed felt the University was doing a great job in fulfilling its mission.
- October 2024: The team focused on designing tools for gathering further feedback, including a "voice of the customer" initiative.
- November 2024: Survey month! Multiple opportunities will be provided for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to give input on what initiatives should continue, expand, evolve, or discontinue. This feedback will help refine the strategic plan refresh.
- December 2024: Data analysis and synthesis will be conducted based on the feedback received, which will inform the first draft of the new strategic plan.
- January 2025: The draft of the strategic plan will be developed and shared for further feedback through focus groups and lunch-and-learns.
- March 2025: The final strategic plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees.
- July 2025: The new strategic plan will officially kick off, aligned with the academic cycle.
Our current strategic plan has been a major success, and there is more work to be done! The goal of the strategic plan refresh is to streamline the plan, focus on key initiatives and align it with divisional and college plans. The final plan will be more concise and efficient, leading the way into the next 50 years of the University's growth.
