Get to Know Business & Leadership in Medical Practices

Excited to begin a new school year, College of Medicine students Dominic Rich and Whitney Stolnicki talk about NEOMED’s Business & Leadership in Medical Practices student organization.

Tell us about BLIMP.

BLIMP is a group of students who share an interest in business practice and leadership, as they relate to the medical field. The focus of the group is to increase student awareness of business opportunities within the medical field, in areas such as health care administration, biomedical entrepreneurship and private practice. As an organization, BLIMP is important to medical students because it allows for exposure to concepts that are not taught in a medical school curriculum, yet can be very applicable to a career in health care.

What would you say to students who are interested in joining BLIMP?

Students should consider joining BLIMP because it offers the opportunity to learn from experts and network within the fields of business and medicine. We’re organizing new activities for this upcoming year, including presentations from experts on subjects such as business terminology, EMR coding, private practice and medical entrepreneurship.

We’ll also make students aware of opportunities like the REDIzone® Future MedTech Entrepreneur Internship, a paid internship that was offered by NEOMED for the first time in 2019 and will be open to students again in 2020.

How can students get involved?

BLIMP is a newly revived organization, so it is easy to get involved and help shape the future of the group. Stop by our table at the Student Organization Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 28!
