Get to Know Lucky Tisch
Lucky Tisch is one of the newer faces at NEOMED, recently taking on the role of director of communications and development for the BeST Center, following the retirement of Carole Harwood. The Pulse sat down with Lucky to learn more about her journey to NEOMED and some of her favorite things to do outside of work.
Why did you want to become part of the NEOMED community?
NEOMED has so much to offer as an employer and community partner. I wanted to be part of an organization that is innovative and leads the way to improving quality of life for all. I am passionate about helping people, educating people, and making a difference.
What will be your primary responsibilities in your new role?
I will use my background in mental health to promote the BeST Center programs for treatment of schizophrenia through communication and outreach across the state.
Are you originally from Northeast Ohio? If not, where are you from?
I grew up in Tallmadge and actually worked at NEOMED during my senior year of high school, back when it was known as NEOUCOM. It is fun to be back and see how the University has evolved. I currently live in Munroe Falls with my husband and two big dogs.
What are you most excited about in your first year at NEOMED?
I am excited to get to know coworkers and students around the University. I like to get to know people and to see what we can learn from each other.
What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
I love to be outdoors, so I run year-round and golf in the summer. Running is an outlet for stress, gives me time for self-care, and helps me set goals to push myself. The longest distance I have run was a 50-mile race last year where I placed third in my age group. This year, I hope to run two or three marathons and a 50K race. I’m really not fast, just persistent!
Where’s your favorite place to spend time in Northeast Ohio?
Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do! I like a wide range of artists from the Foo Fighters to Gerry Rafferty, and Stevie Nicks to Natalie Merchant. I love the fact that Northeast Ohio has great venues which attract great artists so there are always concerts to see.
Favorite restaurant you ask? For a night out, Cooper’s Hawk has the best chicken madeira! But if I’m ordering a pizza, Fiesta Pizza or Luigi’s in Akron are my favorites.
