Get to Know ORSP, Part II

Not only is the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) a physical place at the University. It also oversees the ORSP Summer Research Fellowship Program—a mentored research program offered to currently enrolled NEOMED students in the College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy. Faculty mentors are located at the Rootstown campus and NEOMED’s clinical sites.

Students looking for intensive training in research procedures and principles on projects in basic and clinical disciplines can find it in the ORSP Summer Research Fellowship Program. Goals of the program are to enhance the student fellow’s research horizon and help them to develop scientific presentation and writing skills. The fellowship pays a stipend of $3,000.

How to apply

The Summer 2018 Project Catalog of research options has now been distributed to students, which means that the clock has begun ticking. Students apply for fellowships, as though they were applying for a job, to the faculty member whose project/s interests them, using the application included in the project catalog.

Students are asked to submit their applications as soon as possible. The project investigators have been asked to conduct interviews to select the student(s) who will be working on their project(s) by Monday, April 30, 2018.

This year’s Poster Day, at which students display scientific posters and explain their work to interested visitors, will be Friday, August 24.
