Get to know Stephanie Vollmer

Stephanie Vollmer, the new assistant director of admissions, works with students throughout their application process. She has shared a bit about herself and her role at NEOMED with The Pulse.

What made you want to join the NEOMED community?

I wished to work with high-achieving students and assist them with reaching their professional goals. NEOMED is the perfect place to offer that kind of meaningful work to me.

What are some of your main responsibilities as assistant director of admissions?

I answer incoming inquiries about our College of Graduate Studies programs, assist students through the application process, and get them through acceptance to their onboarding.

What is something you particularly enjoy about working in admissions?

I love the CAA program in-person interview days! The applicants are so passionate and excited to visit NEOMED. It’s great to meet people in person who I’ve only talked to through emails/phone calls.

Where are you from originally?

I’m from the Ellet area of Akron, and now I live in Kent. As a two-time Kent State graduate, I stay involved on campus with alumni marching band and concert band.

Do you have any pets?

I have a handsome 2-year-old cat, Macchiato. If you’re in a Zoom call with me, he may make an appearance (if you’re lucky)!

What is the last movie or series you watched that you would recommend to others?

I know I’m about 25 years late, but I recommend The Sopranos. If you haven’t watched it, it’s not what you would expect – I was both happy and surprised to see the open conversations about identifying and treating mental health struggles.

What are some of your favorite things to do in Northeast Ohio?

My fiancé, Brayden, and I love the downtown Kent area. Some of our favorite places are Barrio, Tree City, Off the Wagon, Taco Tonto’s and Wizardly Weekend every July!
