Graduating students will be focus of Monday's University Update

Join us for a special University Update on Monday, April 29, at 10:30 a.m. in Watanakunakorn Auditorium.

Five exceptional students from the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy and College of Graduate Studies will share their NEOMED experiences as they prepare for Commencement or the next steps in their academic careers.

The five students presenting, from all three colleges, are:

Maria Colvis is a fourth-year medical student set to graduate in May. She is excited to continue caring for children and their families through a Pediatrics residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Emily Marsico, a fourth-year medical student graduating in May, is passionate about women’s health and reproductive justice. She is also very passionate about serving the underserved through volunteering at the SRFC at NEOMED. She will complete her residency in OB/GYN at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Momi Talukdar is a fourth-year pharmacy student passionate about nuclear medicine who will graduate this May. She will be teaching nuclear pharmacy as an adjunct faculty this summer at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and is seeking a nuclear pharmacist position in Ohio after graduation.

Thomas Fanning is a Master of Leadership in Health Systems Science student graduating in a few weeks. Tom will begin medical school at NEOMED this upcoming academic year.

A question was submitted at the conclusion of the March University Update. A viewer on Zoom inquired about NEOMED retaining an Ombudsman. Below is the response:

While NEOMED does not have an Ombudsman, the University does have a variety of resources available to employees. We have open-door communication to your direct supervisor and managers at all levels. Tocarra Ball and Charity Davis in Human Resources are available to provide guidance for coaching, mentoring, receiving a complaint, assisting with difficult situations, mediating a problem, dealing with poor performance issues and providing training. Additionally, the General Counsel’s office is available, especially to faculty. NEOMED also has its own Police Department, NEOMED Health Care, the NEOMED Care Team, the Employee Assistance Program through Impact Solutions, and online reporting options.
