Highlights from the Celebration of Health Professions Education
NEOMED hosted its Spring Celebration of Health Professions Education event on Monday, April 14.
We want to thank all those who attended our spring Celebration of Health Professions Education.
Our outstanding presenters navigated the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) trends, implications, applications, challenges and ethical considerations of AI in health professions education.
Our first presenter, Timothy Aungst, Pharm.D., joined us virtually from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences where he serves as professor of pharmacy practice and a clinical pharmacist. He presented Artificial Intelligence Redefining Health Education for Tomorrow’s Clinicians and provided insights into the impact of AI in health professions education.
Kenneth Remy, M.D., followed with an on-campus presentation titled Short Circuit: Using the Robots in Research, Clinical Care, and Education...Ready for the Big Screen. Dr. Remy is an associate professor who joined us from University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University and shared the impact of AI on his work as an NIH-funded physician-scientist in research and clinical care.
We would also like to thank and highlight NEOMED’s own Philip Turk, Ph.D., Jennifer Reneker, Ph.D., PT, MSPT, M. Petrea Cober, Pharm.D., BCNSP, BCPPS, FASPEN, and Amy Furey- Ligan, J.D., who did an excellent job presenting and fielding questions around their work on the AI Working Group. These individuals have been serving on the AI Working Group over the past several months and spent the afternoon sharing their findings and providing insight into the overall tone at NEOMED around AI.
We look forward to the next Celebration event planned for the afternoon of October 27, 2025 and hope to see you there!
