Honoring Dr. Omer Ashruf as he concludes his service on NEOMED Board of Trustees
On June 3, 2025, Omer Ashruf, M.D., attended his final Board of Trustees meeting, concluding his impactful term as a student trustee. Dr. Ashruf was appointed to the Board in June 2023 by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, and throughout his service, he consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to NEOMED.
Dr. Ashruf fully embraced the unique opportunity to represent the student body at the highest level of University governance. As a student trustee, he played a vital role in bringing the student perspective to critical discussions and decisions, influencing the University’s strategic direction and overall student experience.
"It is both rare and unique for a Board of Trustees at a higher educational institution to offer the position of 'Student Trustee,' but NEOMED does—a testament to the school's commitment to being student-centered and prioritizing our voice," Dr. Ashruf shared. "Above all else, the Board has taught me the value of relentless selflessness and commitment in the pursuit of something greater. That is my takeaway from President Langell and each Board member."
