Ignite Scholar candidate will present on April 25

The Ignite Scholar program at NEOMED provides a mentored pathway for early career scientists toward a tenure track faculty position through one of two tracks: research or graduate education in biomedical science and innovation.

Ignite Scholar candidate Deanna Bowman will visit NEOMED on Friday, April 25, and will present to the NEOMED community from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. in F-118.

The 45-minute presentation for faculty, students and administrators, will include:

  • A brief background of scholarship and involvement with both undergraduate and graduate education
  • A 30-minute lecture appropriate for an audience of graduate students
  • A brief presentation on how to would advance science education through scholarship

The presentation will be followed by a brief 15-minute Q & A session.

About Deanna Bowman

Deanna Bowman is currently a graduate student in Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. In the lab of Dr. James Goldenring, she examines mutations in Myosin-5b, as well as mechanisms of MYO5B in enterocytes and hepatocytes. She is a research member of the Society for the Advancement of Biology Education. She holds a certification in college teaching from the Center for Teach at Vanderbilt.
