Michael Tan recognized among Masters of the ACP and other accolades for internal medicine

The Department of Internal Medicine received several accolades at the American College of Physicians Ohio Scientific Meeting held Oct. 19-20 in Columbus, Ohio. 

Michael Tan, M.D. ('99), FACP, FIDSA, professor of internal medicine, received the Masters of the ACP award, one of only 36 Ohioans to have been recognized with this honor since it was first presented in 1923. According to the ACP website, selected fellows are "highly accomplished persons demonstrating impact in practice, leadership, or in medical research."

Mehool Patel, M.D., chair of internal medicine, was elected to the Governor's Advisory Council as an at-large member.

NEOMED presenters also took third place in the clinical research category for the poster “Efficacy of Paxlovid in moderate-severe chronic kidney disease with COVID-19: Real world data from 3,345 patients,” authored by Omer Ashruf (M3), Zara Orozco (M3), Imad Haq (M4), Razwana Khanam, David Kaelber, and Rupesh Raina, M.D., clinical assistant professor and M4 Course Director.
