Highlights from the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) Scientific Conference Oct. 17-18, in Columbus:

Brandon Petrovich, left, M3, won 1st Place in Basic Science Research for "Changes in B Cell Receptor CDR3 Physiochemical Properties are Observed with Type 1 Diabetes Progression." Omer Ashruf, right, M4, won 1st Place in Clinical Research for "Sugar Rush: Atrial Fibrillation and Cardiovascular Mortality in Diabetics Treated with GLP-1 Agonists".


Omer Ashruf, below, M4, won 1st Place in Clinical Research for "Sugar Rush: Atrial Fibrillation and Cardiovascular Mortality in Diabetics Treated with GLP-1 Agonists".

Catherine Domingo, below, M4, presenting "Development of Hepatocellular Carcinoma after Double Checkpoint Inhibitor Therapy for Metastatic Malignant Melanoma". 


Tasha Salmen, M3, below, presented Teaching Medical Interviewing Skills to Future Healthcare Professionals in Collaboration with Area Health Education Center, which she worked on with Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine Michael Appleman. 


Maham Alvi, M3, below, presented "Role of Autophagy in Aortic Valve Stenosis" with coauthors Klarens Menage, M2, Song Shin, Postdoctoral Fellow Integrated Medical Sciences, and Feng Dong, Associate Professor of Integrated Medical Sciences. 


Rana Youssef, M3, second from left, presented "Atypical Presentation of Microscopic Polangitis.


Paul Lecat, M.D., FACP, right, and Robert Fulton, DDS, left, presented "Mastering the Oral Examination for Internal Medicine Physicians."


Michael Sevilla, M.D., FAFP, Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine, left, and Austin Fredrickson, M.D., FACP, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine presented "Revolutionizing Primary Care: How to Thrive in 2025 and Beyond."
