Katherine Tromp, Pharm.D., appointed dean of NEOMED College of Pharmacy

NEOMED announced the appointment of Katherine M. Tromp, Pharm.D., as dean of the College of Pharmacy. She has served as interim dean since June 2023.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Tromp build upon her successful leadership of NEOMED’s College of Pharmacy,” said NEOMED President John Langell, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. “Her energy, enthusiasm and scholarship will elevate the curriculum, preparing the next generation of dedicated pharmacists.”

Dr. Tromp also holds an appointment as associate professor of pharmacy practice. Her background is focused on community practice and pharmacy academia. Her areas of research and teaching include the scholarship of teaching and learning, immunizations and self-care.

NEOMED Provost Dr. Forrest Faison stated, "Dr. Tromp is a proven and exceptional leader who has done an outstanding job as interim dean. Her experience, vision and commitment to the College made her the clear choice in a competitive search to be our next dean of the College of Pharmacy.  The other deans and I are looking forward to working with her as we continue to grow the University and realize even greater achievements in the future."

“It has been a privilege to lead the College of Pharmacy for the past two years as the interim dean, and it is a true honor to be able to continue to serve in this role,” said Dr. Tromp. “The students, faculty and staff are exceptional, and I am looking forward to accomplishing great things together.”

Her passion for education and dedication to improving women’s health led to Dr. Tromp being invited to serve as 2025 volunteer chair for the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" campaign in Northeast Ohio.

Before joining NEOMED, she served as the associate dean of the Florida Pathway and associate professor for the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy in Bradenton, Florida.

Dr. Tromp completed her Pharm.D. at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Worcester, Mass. After pharmacy school, she completed a PGY-1 residency with MCPHS University and Walgreens.
