Kudos to Students Recognized at Community Health Leadership Conference

Way to represent NEOMED!

Congratulations to the College of Medicine students who presented and brought home multiple awards from the Community Health Leadership Conference recently hosted by the University of Miami Department of Community Service.

Ali Syed and Kishan Pandya, both third-year students, were awarded first place for a poster presentation regarding the implementation of telehealth at the Student-Run Free Clinic at NEOMED.

Sanjay Jinka, a third-year student and the CEO of the clinic, won second place for his oral presentation regarding the new leadership succession plan for the clinic. Jinka reports that approximately 50 presenters shared their work at the conference, which was attended by medicine students from New York to California. “This recognition is a huge honor for us and a testament to the great work we are doing at our clinic and at NEOMED,” says Jinka.

The formal titles of the presentations with all contributing authors were as follows:

  • Oral Presentation: “Leadership Succession Planning in a Student Run Free Clinic” - Sanjay Jinka, Sneha Gundavarpu, Janet Raber, B.S.N., R.N.
  • Poster Presentation: “Telehealth Education at a Student Run Free Clinic” - Ali Syed, Kishan Pandya, Arjun Pandya, Prachi Lele, Alicia Bond, M.D. (special acknowledgement to David Sperling, M.D.).
