Destiny Patrick, Pharm.D. (’23) and Logan Swan are Giant Eagle Leadership Scholars
Congratulations to Destiny Patrick, Pharm.D. ('23), top right, and fourth-year pharmacy student Logan Swan, bottom right, for earning the Giant Eagle Leadership Scholarship. Dr. Patrick and Swan earned the scholarships by demonstrating a continued commitment to community practice.
Each student received $10,000 to be applied to their tuition amount for the 2022-2023 academic year.
Dr. Patrick began working as a pharmacy intern at a Giant Eagle in Youngstown, Ohio, in August of 2017, and remained in that role throughout her duration as a pharmacy student at NEOMED.
“My role at Giant Eagle expanded my skillset of working efficiently in a team setting, medication administration and dispensing, communicating effectively and the definition of providing the utmost respect and excellent service to patients,” said Dr. Patrick. “A pharmacist is the most accessible health care professional, so counseling and ensuring patient understanding is very important to me.”
Swan also served as a pharmacy intern for the Tallmadge and Barberton Giant Eagle locations for more than two years.
“Being empathetic is extremely important in community practice,” said Swan. “Being a childhood cancer survivor, I understand the daily struggles that our patients experience and bring with them every time they pick up their prescriptions. We have such a tremendous potential for impact on our patient’s lives and that is what I see as the future and my way of advancing community pharmacy.”
Congratulations to the scholarship recipients!
