MEDCAMP Celebrates 32 Years of Excellence

MEDCAMP, beginning in 1991, was designed to give students a three-day intensive immersive experience for eighth graders who have demonstrated achievement in science and an interest in a health professions career. As time and initiatives are enhanced to provide an excellent student experience, so has the MEDCAMP program.

For MEDCAMP 2022, 38 undergraduate students came on the NEOMED campus to engage in “hands-on” experiences with bio-medical science workshops involving research, clinical problem-solving and an introduction to the fields of clinical medicine and pharmacy. Students join physicians, pharmacists, NEOMED students, faculty and researchers in performing applied activities, interview a fictitious patient in the Wasson Center, using critical thinking skills in addition to learning modern laboratory techniques to provide the diagnosis.

On Saturday, these students present their findings in a Grand Round format to family and friends.
