Medical students reflect on ACC event
On Saturday, Nov. 15, NEOMED students attended the Recruiting Tomorrow’s Female Cardiologist program. The program was presented by the Ohio Chapter of American College of Cardiology with a unique opportunity to learn from leading female cardiologists, network with peers and gain valuable insights into the field.
Inspiring Speakers and Workshops
Loryssa Tade (M1): “After attending this conference, I felt very inspired by the experiences of so many well accomplished women in the cardiology space. The speakers shared extremely valuable advice about how to not only succeed in our careers as future physicians, but also how to balance the other challenges and joys of life we may face in the future. I am also extremely grateful that I had the opportunity to connect with other medical students, residents and physicians from Ohio!”
Understanding Mentorship Pathways
Reem Ahmed (M2): “It was amazing to hear from leaders in their respective fields of cardiology and learn about their journeys to this specialty. We discussed the importance of finding various forms of mentorship and in taking full advantage of each level of education regardless of where you want to specialize. It was an unforgettable experience to be able to talk with and learn from attendings, industry representatives, residents and medical students about the directions in which cardiology is moving.”
Balancing Challenges and Opportunities
Sophie Tayade (M3): “Our panelists shared their exciting, yet unpredictable journey towards cardiology. It was reassuring to hear their personal challenges to balance new career opportunities with personal priorities, something I am learning during rotations. I originally learned about the event through the NEOMED Pulse announcement. Even though it is challenging to balance clinical rotations with extracurricular events like this, I am very grateful to have the opportunity to attend!”
