Before the NEOMED Class of 2026 starts their journey, we wanted to learn more about students from this group. We invited them to share their stories. Here is one response:

Meet Antoni Tiliakos of Campbell, Ohio. Antoni received a B.S. in biology with a minor in chemistry.

What compelled you to pursue a degree in health care?

Growing up in Campbell, I was quickly made aware of health disparities that minorities face on a regular basis, and wanted to address those issues as a health care professional in the future.

Why did you choose NEOMED?

Besides being an excellent medical school with a focus on community, NEOMED has always felt like a second home to me since my brother graduated as have many people in my community, so in another way it feels like one big family where everyone wants to see the people around you succeed, whether that be past or present members of the NEOMED community.

What specific career do you hope to pursue? Or where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I hope to pursue a career in whatever field of medicine interests me the most, that is also facing a shortage of health care providers.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I was always interested in becoming a Navy SEAL.

What is your favorite thing to eat and why?

My favorite thing to eat is grilled octopus. Growing up Greek has always introduced some interesting foods and whenever there is grilled octopus, I am sure to be close by!

What book or movie are you currently recommending to friends? Why?

Either the Harry Potter books or movies.

You are handed a plan ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? Why?

I would go to Kalymnos, Greece. It is where my family is from and is so beautiful with lots of great food and sights to see!

If time and resources were no object, what skill or hobby would you pursue? Why?

I would attempt to obtain a private pilot’s license. I always thought it would be fun to take a small plane and fly somewhere for a dinner or just to look at everything from the sky!

What’s you hype song? Why?

My hype song is “The Way I Talk” by Morgan Wallen. It’s about being yourself and I overall enjoy all of his songs!

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I think people would be surprised to know that even though I grew up in northeast Ohio, all of my favorite sports teams are from Boston! Specifically, the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox!
