Before the NEOMED Class of 2026 starts their journey, we wanted to learn more about students from this group. We invited them to share their stories. Here is one response:
Meet first-year medicine student Conner Wilson from Poland, Ohio. Wilson studied biology at Kent State University.
What compelled you to pursue a degree in health care?
I would like to pursue a career in health care because I believe that it is an amazing privilege to help others and to understand the human body.
Why did you choose NEOMED?
Because the institution offers a great program that is patient-centered and community-focused.
What specific career do you hope to pursue? Or where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I hope to be either an oncologist or endocrinologist!
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a veterinarian.
What is your favorite thing to eat and why?
Pasta is a dish that I enjoy eating a lot. Growing up, I came from a very Italian-American family.
What book or movie are you currently recommending to friends? Why?
I am currently recommending The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. It is very well-written and puts a cool twist on Greek Mythology.
You are handed a plane ticket to anywhere in the world. Where are you going? Why?
I would love to go back to Spain because I love the food, the architecture and the people.
If time and resources were no object, what skill or hobby would you pursue? Why?
I would like to learn how to ski better and possibly learn how to do tricks off a ramp.
What’s your hype song? Why?
One of my favorite hype songs is “3:15” by Bazzi. It has a nice flow to it.
What would people be surprised to know about you?
I studied Spanish in college, so I would say I speak it well. I still have a lot to learn though!
