Before the NEOMED Class of 2026 starts their journey, we wanted to learn more about students from this group. We invited them to share their stories. Here is one response:

Meet first-year medicine student Shaarav Ghose from Middleburg Heights, Ohio. Shaarav received a Bachelor of Science degree in public health from Baldwin Wallace University.

What compelled you to pursue a degree in health care?

I have extended family in Australia that are in this field and I have looked up to them since I was a little kid. I decided to pursue a degree in health care because in addition to being able to help my community, it is a very diverse field with many ways in which I can help.

Why did you choose NEOMED?

I chose NEOMED because of the ample opportunities to serve the communities within Ohio and their patient-focused curriculum.

What specific career do you hope to pursue? Or where do you see yourself in 10 years?

At this time, I believe I am leaning toward some sort of primary care specialty. However, I know that through rotations I may change my mind so I'm not really sure!

In 10 years, I see myself working somewhere in Ohio, spending a lot of time with my family, and somehow still being disappointed by the Cleveland Browns.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an NBA player. However, I’m still waiting for that six-inch growth spurt.

What is your favorite thing to eat and why?

Samurai Hibachi in Strongsville. I’ve gone there for my birthday dinner every year since it opened.

What’s your hype song? Why?

“Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi. It is the only song that I know every word to.
