Military Matches announced for Class of 2025

While most fourth-year students in the College of Medicine will learn where they will go for residency on Match Day, scheduled for March 21, 2025, the military match takes place each year in December.

Congratulations to Jurgen Daye Trujillo (Army) and Yaritza Torres (Navy), who have been notified of their military matches.

Daye Trujillo has matched for emergency medicine at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Torres has matched for emergency medicine at Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) in San Diego, California.

The students, who will be active duty in their respective branches following graduation, went through a different process for achieving the match than most if their medical school peers. For a student to match in the military, they must:

  • Apply for and receive the Health Professionals Scholarship Program scholarship prior to the end of the M2 year;
  • Attend a 5-week officer-training program for their respective branch of service; and
  • Commit to a minimum of 6 years active duty (including their residency training) to serve their respective branch of service.

Assisting students as they match with military placements is just one of the ways NEOMED supports military-connected students as a Collegiate Purple Star institution.
