Deadline is Feb. 14 for Multiple Merit-Based Scholarships

Multiple merit-based scholarships are available for students in the College of Medicine, College of Pharmacy and College of Graduate Studies.

All scholarship applications have a deadline of Monday, Feb. 14. All scholarships are for the current, 2021-22 academic year. All eligible students received notification of the application cycle in January via email; this news brief serves as a reminder.

College of Graduate Studies, College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy Class of 2022 Graduates

THE ALUMNI SHINE ON SCHOLARSHIP
This merit-based scholarship is to be provided to a Class of 2022 student (May 2022 graduate) who demonstrates an understanding of the importance of continuing support of NEOMED through the Alumni Association. $1,000 for the 2021-22 academic year.

College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy

BARRY R. AND MARIA R. SCHIMER SCHOLARSHIP
The Barry R. and Maria R. Schimer scholarship fund was created to provide tuition relief to NEOMED students who have a stated interest in serving underserved rural communities in Ohio. The $500 scholarship will be awarded to a College of Medicine or College of Pharmacy student who is interested in serving underserved, rural communities in Ohio. The scholarship is for the current 2021-22 academic year.

Barry R. and Maria R Schimer Scholarship Application

BUDD AND ALICE MEYERS SCHOLARSHIP
The Budd and Alice Meyers Scholarship fund will provide a medical or pharmacy student at NEOMED with a $2,500 scholarship. The recipient must demonstrate an interest in and passion for Palliative Care and Geriatrics. Preference will be given to students that have completed a Student Summer Fellowship or M-STAR Fellowship in association with the Office of Geriatrics and/or Office of Palliative Care. Applicants must be in good academic standing. The scholarship will be applied to the current 2021-22 academic year.

DOWNING URBAN HEALTH M.D. SCHOLARSHIP
This merit-based scholarship is to be provided to a Class of 2022 NEOMED-CSU Partnership for Urban Health program student who matches in a primary care residency training program. Primary care is defined as family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine. $10,000 scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year.

Downing Urban Health MD Scholarship Application

DR. KONG T. AND MRS. GIM OH SCHOLARSHIP
Dr. Kong T. and Mrs. Gim Oh scholarship will support a third year (M3) or fourth year (M4) NEOMED medical student who is dedicated to community service. To be considered, students must be in good academic standing and have successfully completed two years of medical education at NEOMED. Number of awards and scholarship amount will be based upon number of students selected for the 2021-22 academic year.

Dr. Kong T. and Mrs. Gim Oh Endowed Scholarship Application

GEORGE AND JUDY LITMAN SCHOLARSHIP
This merit-based scholarship is to be provided to a M4, Class of 2022 medicine student at NEOMED who is in good academic standing and has a firm interest in cardiology and cardiology research. $3,000 for the 2021-22 academic year.

NEOMED-CSU PARTNERSHIP MEDICAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
The NEOMED-CSU Partnership Medical Student Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity available to CSU-NEOMED partnership for urban health students. There are two $2,500 scholarships available for the current 2021-22 academic year.

PHILIP AND JANICE WESTERMAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Philip and Janice Westerman scholarship fund will provide a M2 student with a $1,000 scholarship. The recipient must have demonstrated excellence in the Human Architecture and Composition Course (HAC) course at NEOMED. HAC course modules include cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, basic biochemistry principles and carbohydrate metabolism. The scholarship will be applied to the student’s educational expenses for the current academic year (2021-22).

Philip and Janice Westerman Scholarship

RAYMOND AND JACQUELINE BONIFACE AND RICHARD AND ELIZABETH YOUNG SCHOLARSHIP
This merit-based scholarship is to be provided to a M4, Class of 2022 medicine at NEOMED who is in good academic standing and a long-standing Ohio resident. $2,500 for the 2021-22 academic year academic year.

College of Pharmacy

CVS HEALTH FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Two merit-based scholarship opportunities from CVS Health Foundation are to be provided to pharmacy students with interest in a career in community pharmacy practice. All classes are eligible. The standard charitable trust must award at least 25 percent of scholarship dollars to bilingual students. The Spanish charitable trust will be awarded to students who are fluent in Spanish. Four $1,000 scholarships available for the 2021-22 academic year. 

CVS Health Scholarship Application

TAHANI MANSOUR PHARM.D. (’13) ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
The Tahani Mansour, Pharm.D. (’13), Alumni Scholarship is an annual $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a student pharmacist who shares the interests of Tahani Mansour, graduate of the class of 2013. Tahani and her legacy will live on through this award and the student pharmacists who are the recipients. Sadagah jariyah, which translates to “ceaseless charity” — means that both the donor and the receiver realize the benefits of this award. In the spirit of Tahani’s giving nature, this generous gift is reflective of her values.
