The 34th annual Northeast Ohio Medical University Regional Scholarship Day was held May 17 in the NEW Center. Attended by over 250 participants, the event was sponsored by the Departments of Family and Community Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry and Pediatrics, the Northeastern Ohio Network®, NEOMED Strategic Initiative Funding and our NEOMED hospital partners.
Research, quality improvement, curricular innovation projects and case reports were showcased. Over 30 judges from NEOMED and our affiliated community judged 30 oral and 104 poster presentations in primary care and specialty care tracks. First, second and third place awards were given in each track for both oral and poster presentations. Additionally, clinical faculty presented scholarly work during afternoon roundtable discussions. Michael Forbes, M.D., chief academic officer, Akron Children's Hospital, and the Rebecca D. Considine Endowed Chair of Pediatric Research, Akron Children’s Hospital and NEOMED professor of pediatrics, delivered an inspiring keynote address.
This annual event provides an opportunity for sharing scholarly work and experiences, connecting with colleagues, and developing new ideas that shape future scholarship and ultimately improve patient care.
